Lecture by Guest Artist, Jim Warren FOUNDING ARTISTIC DIRECTOR OF THE American Shakespeare Center

FEBRUARY 5TH | 4:00 PM at Grand Rapids CIVIC THEATRE

BACK TO THE FUTURE: How re-creating Shakespeare’s staging conditions allow his plays to be fun again in the 21st century and beyond.

Jim Warren (Founding Artistic Director of the American Shakespeare Center and the Blackfriars Playhouse in Staunton, VA; current Artistic Director of the American Globe Center that plans to build the world’s first historically accurate re-creation of Shakespeare’s 1614 Globe Theatre in Stratford, CT) explores the ways that Shakespeare used the theatrical environment of his day to make his plays thrilling, funny, in-your-face, and exciting for us today. With the assistance of Pigeon Creek Shakespeare Company actors to demonstrate some of the staging principles, this presentation will help you fall in love with Shakespeare, for the first time or the fiftieth.

FREE ADMISSION, reservation required.
