Special Opportunities - Auditioning

Have you ever wondered what it’s like to audition for a musical at the Grand Rapids Civic Theatre?  This is your opportunity to prep for upcoming auditions and work with theatre professionals to gain confidence in your audition skills!  This workshop will discuss what materials to prepare, what to expect from both the singing and dancing portions of an audition, and answer any questions you may have about this experience!  As a bonus, a Q & A session for parents will take place the last 30 minutes of each session.

Musical Theatre Audition Workshop Instructor Bios | ADULT:

Corie Weber (Voice)
Corie is excited to be a part Civic’s amazing roster of teachers! She is the owner and co-founder of the Grand Rapids Voice Collective, a voice studio focused on helping performers achieve their on-stage goals. She works with singers and also music educators to support them in their own performing and teaching development. Corie has been on faculty with Western Michigan University’s Musical Theater Department, and is currently on faculty with Grand Valley State University’s Music Department. She’s passionate about learning of all kinds, loves to read, drink tea, and spend time with her family. Corie’s favorite thing about teaching at Civic is the people – the faculty, staff, and students that bring this theater to life and make it feel like home!

Amy Wilson (Dance)
Amy Wilson is a Grand Rapids based dance artist, choreographer, dance educator and the Artistic Director of Dance in the Annex (DITA). Amy has served on faculty at Grand Valley State University, Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp, Grand Rapids Community College and Civic Theatre and is a regular guest artist and choreographer at studios, schools and universities around West Michigan. As the Artistic Director of DITA, a contemporary dance collective, Amy choreographs, produces and performs in live and dance-film works that are site-specific with an emphasis on process. Amy is a Young Artist Studio Mentor at Civic Theatre.
