2026-2027 Terms
In addition to our CORE Acting and Musical Theatre classes, 6th-8th grade students have an exciting array of electives to choose from this year! CORE Classes are designed to provide students with a fundamental understanding of either acting or musical theatre and are the same curriculum each term with different scripts and songs. ELECTIVE Classes are for students looking for an in-depth exploration of a particular topic and change every term. Take both CORE and Elective Classes for a well-rounded theatre education!

Students build on the basics by adding physical character exploration, motivation, and analysis of character arc to their skill set. Both beginning and returning students discover exciting ways to bring their characters to life onstage! This class culminates in an informal, in-class presentation and fulfills a prerequisite for the School of Theatre Arts Production, Finding Nemo Jr.

Students add to their basic dance and vocal skills while exploring more advanced techniques, including complicated melodies, singing in harmony, and a variety of dance formations and transitions. Both beginning and returning students feel right at home in this class! This class culminates in an informal, in-class presentation of a musical theatre song & dance and fulfills a prerequisite for the School of Theatre Arts Production, Finding Nemo Jr.

IMPROV

Through games, activities, and exercises, students learn how the art of improvisation can help improve their performance and unleash their imagination. Improv teaches students how to think on their feet, react to their scene partner(s) and make bigger choices in their acting. This class is all about collaboration, comedy, and creativity!

INTRO TO MUSICAL THEATRE VOICE
for Grades 6-12

Curious about what it would be like to take a private voice lesson? This group voice class will have students learn the basics of ensemble work including reading sheet music, how to warm up their voice, use healthy vocal technique, and sing in harmony as well as prepare 1-2 songs that could be used in an audition setting!

INTRO TO COSTUMES
for Grades 6-12

Students interested in costume design learn how to take what is on the page and develop it into a costume that will inspire the cast and production team alike! This class is fantastic for individuals with a creative and design-oriented mind who are interested in learning about the entire costume design process for a production.

ADVANCED COSTUME DESIGN
for Grades 6-12

Students interested in costume design learn how to develop their own design concept and create captivating costume designs! Students will learn color theory, and an overview of costume history to create designs based on scripted characters. Students will also learn sewing skills and costume craft skills to create scaled versions of their designs, bringing them from the page into the real world!
Students should have costuming experience or have completed Intro to Costumes prior to taking this Advanced course. Contact the School of Theatre Arts with questions.

INTRO TO PROPS

Students learn where to begin as a Props Designer for a full-blown production by creating a detailed prop list, how to pull appropriate props based on the script, and how to use design techniques to create props!

ADVANCED PROP DESIGN
for Grades 6-12

Students will dive into specific techniques used by designers to create realistic props for the stage! They will get the opportunity to work on an individual or group prop and focus on its details to create a high-quality, functional prop that can be displayed in their final week of class.

MONSTERS & MAGIC MAKEUP
for Grades 6-12

Learn about various makeup looks to enhance your Halloween or stage creations this year! This class teaches the basics of designing and creating makeup looks of fairies and princesses, animals, monsters, gore, and more! Each week will focus on a different makeup element and culminate in a final makeup showcase on our last day of class.

ADVANCED ACTING

This class is intended for students who have taken Core Acting 6-8 or 9-12 in the last two years and are looking for the next step! Actors will learn about the moment before, tactics, objectives, and physical character emobidment while engaging in small group scenes. This class culminates in an informal, in-class presentation of a musical theatre song and dance and fulfills a prerequisite for the School of Theatre Arts Production, Finding Nemo Jr.

SKETCH COMEDY
for Grades 6-12

Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, Will Ferrell, and Maya Rudolph all got their start in comedy by learning how to do sketch comedy! Guided by an experienced sketch comedy instructor, students learn about various types of sketches and the process of writing from brainstorming through presentation! There is typically homework for this class for students to write sketches to present each week. Laughter guaranteed!

NO-SWEAT AUDITIONS
for Grades 6-12

Nerves got you tensed up during auditions? Voice start shaking? Knees weak? Never fear, repetition is here to save the day! Join us for a class that will have you audition multiple times in front of peers in order to train yourself on how to audition well and get comfortable with the nerves. Receive comments and help suggestions live after auditions and continue to grow the skill of auditioning. Each week will have a new musical you will audition for, so come prepared with a song, and your best acting chops!
