SCHOOL FIELD TRIP PERFORMANCES AT GRAND RAPIDS CIVIC THEATRE
Why embark on a field trip to Grand Rapids Civic Theatre for a school show matinee? Students who journey to a location outside their normal educational environment experience learning and civic engagement in a more engaging and memorable way. Plus, at Civic, our audience members have the opportunity to see their peers in action with community service: every actor on stage and backstage support person is a volunteer – a lesson in itself in community and civic responsibility that just may ignite a new passion and appreciation for the arts! Arts-based school field trips also encourage empathy and perspective, teamwork and communication, positive mental health and engagement, as well as positive behavior and attendance.
For Grand Rapids Civic Theatre’s Centennial Season, we have school field trip opportunities for elementary students as well as high school students.
DISNEY’S FINDING NEMO JR.
Grand Rapids Civic Theatre’s School of Theatre Arts programs join together to present a 60-minute musical adaptation of the beloved 2003 Pixar movie Finding Nemo, featuring new music by award-winning songwriting team Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez. Marlin, an anxious and over-protective clownfish, lives in the Great Barrier Reef with his kid Nemo, who longs to explore the world beyond their anemone home. But when Nemo is captured and taken to Sydney, Marlin faces his fears and sets off on an epic adventure across the ocean. With the help of lovable characters such as optimistic Dory, laid-back sea turtle Crush, and the supportive Tank Gang, Marlin and Nemo both overcome challenges on their journey to find each other and themselves.
