Mary Lou spent countless hours giving of her time and talent to Civic Theatre. Most notably, Mary Lou served as a frequent accompanist, pit musician, and actor.

Mary Lou was a tireless supporter of the Arts, and in addition to her service to the Theatre, she taught kindergarten in Grand Rapids Public Schools for 39 consecutive years and was a regular volunteer for the Grand Rapids Symphony.

In honor of the time that Mary Lou spent filling our auditorium, our rehearsal halls, and our hearts with the gift of music, Grand Rapids Civic Theatre is pleased to dedicate Smith Rehearsal Hall on June 1, 2023 in her memory.
