Musical Theatre Performance Block: Shrek, Jr.
MUST take any GRCT CORE Musical Theatre Class (21/22 OR 22/23), PLUS one other choice from below:
1 Year of Summer Camp (2022)
Any GRCT CORE Acting Theatre Class (21/22 OR 22/23)
Any GRCT Elective Class (21/22 OR 22/23)
2nd and 3rd grade students have the opportunity to join the 4th through 12th grade students in putting together a 60 minute adaptation of the Broadway production Shrek Jr. on Civic Theatre’s MainStage for a paying audience! Students in second and third grades have a reduced rehearsal schedule for the first three weeks as they will be cast in the larger ensemble numbers. There is also the potential to be cast in a featured role with additional rehearsal time. Beginning the fourth week of rehearsals, all students will attend staging rehearsals five days a week to run the show! Join the ogre, Shrek, on his journey to save Princess Fiona and find acceptance in his skin with a band of silly fairytale characters! This fast-paced production is a fantastic opportunity to practice your singing, dancing, and acting skills in a safe and supportive environment. Everyone who registers will be cast – don’t miss your chance to be part of this exciting opportunity!
*Absences from Technical Rehearsals and Performances will not be allowed. Absences from Staging Rehearsals are highly discouraged and may have an impact on a student’s participation in the program.
NEW THIS YEAR
Students are required to have any music, band, orchestra, choir or arts teachers sign off on their Performance Block rehearsal calendar. This gives the school teachers an opportunity to document a concert or event already on the school calendar as a Performance Block conflict (STAGING REHEARSALS ONLY), while acknowledging that the student has committed to the Performance Block program and should a school concert or event be scheduled on a rehearsal or performance date after signing off, the student will be excused from the concert or event without penalty to their grade. THIS IS FOR STAGING REHEARSALS ONLY and no exceptions will be made.
