Book: Timothy Allen McDonald
Music & Lyrics: Benj Pasek and Justin Paul
Based on: Roald Dahl’s book James and the Giant Peach
Roald Dahl’s beloved book comes to life in a rollicking musical featuring the Tony Award® nominated team of Pasek and Paul (known for La La Land and The Greatest Showman). Forced to live with two cruel aunts after his parents’ death, James’ life takes another unexpected twist when he meets a mysterious man with a book of magic potions. After he accidentally spills his potion on a tree, it sprouts an enormous peach which the aunts plan to turn into a money-making opportunity.
James finds a door in the peach and discovers a crew of fantastic creatures living inside, all transformed by the potion to giant size. When the peach rolls off the tree and into the ocean, the crew must work together to overcome hunger, battle sharks, and escape the greedy aunts who are plotting to fumigate them. From the branches of the tree to the Atlantic Ocean to the skies above New York City, their daring exploits teach them to work together and redefine what it means to be a family.
