Caitlin Bales

She/Her
Early Elementary

Caitlin (she/her) is an actor, director, and stage manager in Holland, Michigan.  After studying Theatre and Communications at Hope College in Holland, she moved around the US and abroad for several years, volunteering in community theatres and performing arts everywhere she travelled. Her family recently moved back to Michigan and settled on the west coast. She has been acting, assistant directing, and stage managing with Holland Community Theatre for the last 3 seasons and is excited to direct A Midsummer Night’s Dream next summer. Currently working as the Office Manager for Hope College’s Department of Theatre, she has also worked as a marketing and social media professional for 6+ years. She loves to cuddle up and read with her 6 year old son, Freddie and watch baking shows with her partner Greg.

Caitlin’s background in Theatre started in Middle School and has grown into a passion which she loves to share both on stage and off stage, especially sharing this passion with the next generation of theatre kids. She is very excited to be involved with Grand Rapids Civic as a Teaching Artist and can’t wait to see what your young performers will create together!

What inspires you?
All forms of art inspire me. As a creative person I find others’ creative expressions very inspiring. A moving dance piece, the color play in a beautiful work of art, an emotional song lyric, a thought-provoking line in a poem… inspiration can come from anywhere and for me often comes from the lived experiences of others expressed in the many varieties of art forms.
