Body Awareness for the Actor
WITH Gareth Hinsley (Blue Man Group)
This physical acting workshop explores how to use the body as a powerful storytelling tool. Through guided exercises, actors will build awareness of their physical presence, discover a true neutral, and examine how movement, posture, and gesture communicate meaning without words. Emphasis is placed on self-awareness, physical listening, and the impact of nonverbal choices on character and narrative.

MEET THE Instructor
Gareth Hinsley is a Chicago-based Associate Artistic Director and longtime member of the Blue Man Group with over 18 years of experience in theatre, live events, and performance. He has taught at Columbia College Chicago and Porchlight Music Theatre, leading workshops in physical storytelling, ensemble collaboration, and character development. Gareth’s coaching emphasizes play, presence, and nonverbal expression to help actors unlock new possibilities in performance.
