Emily is excited to join the team of exceptional teaching artists at Grand Rapids Civic Theater. Emily has a B.M. in Music Education from The Catholic University of America (Washington, DC), and a M.Ed. with a focus in Kodály Music Education from Loyola University (Baltimore, MD). Emily taught In Maryland public schools and privately for 15 years. She has worked with elementary school-aged children in the general music classroom as well as extra-curricular programs and choral ensembles. She founded a musical theater program at her school and directed 8 productions put on by her talented and passionate students. Emily has also worked for the Peabody Children’s Chorus with Johns Hopkins Peabody Institute as a director of their youth training choir.

What inspires you?

Watching my children grow into pretty awesome people, my students accomplishing their goals and growing into their most authentic selves, and collaborating with other teaching and performing artists to create something extraordinary.
