Youth Acting Teacher
Kate has over 15 years experience teaching drama to K-12 students. A transplant from the East Coast, Kate has primarily worked with non-profit theaters and independent schools throughout New England. As a drama teacher, Kate has taught classes in acting, directing, playwriting, costume design & construction, stage management and dramaturgy. Kate’s favorite productions include Beauty & the Beast, Urinetown, Much Ado About Nothing, Taming of the Shrew, and Shrek, the Musical. Kate has a BFA in Applied Theatre Arts from the University of the Arts and has worked as a professional Stage Manager and Audience Services Manager before finding her passion for teaching 15 years ago. When not in the theatre, Kate can be found goofing around with her two young girls (ages 5 and 2 months.) Kate also works part-time here at the Civic as our Volunteer Coordinator.
What inspires you?
Seeing the world through my children and all of the wonders they experience for the first time.
Who is your favorite fictional character?
In musical theatre it’s got to be Fionna in Shrek. I love her outlook on life as her confidence and self-awareness grows throughout the show.
What was your favorite after school snack growing up?
Rice cakes with tomato and cheese
