This years most popular movie, DREAMGIRLS
first premiered on Broadway in 1981 taking audiences by storm. Now this
award-winning fabulous musical comes to the Civic stage to kick off

greatest hits from the sixties and seventies, combined with great dancing
and the behind-the-scenes drama of Motowns phenomenal impact on
Americas music culture.

ADVENTURES OF NATE THE GREAT
October 17-21, 25-27
A play for youth by Pamela Sterling, Based on the Nate
the Great series of books by Marjorie Weinman Sharmat.
Get ready to meet the smartest kid detective around
straight from the storybook shelf to the Civic stage. With his
faithful dog, Sludge, Nate the Great is ready to solve lifes everyday
mysteries, always remembering to leave a note for Mom and wear his galoshes.
Present and future will combine to create a wonderful Now that your
entire family is sure to enjoy.

THE
SOUND OF MUSIC
November 15 - December 16
Music by Richard Rodgers, Lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein
II, Book by Howard Lindsay and Russell Crouse, Suggested by The
Story of The Trapp Family Singers
This final collaboration between Rodgers & Hammerstein
was destined to become the worlds most beloved musical, and arrives
on the Civic stage in time for the holidays. The favorite love story
is filled with memorable musical numbers weve come to love and
adore, including The Sound of Music, Edelweiss,
My Favorite Things, Climb Every Mountain, and
Do-Re-Mi.

MIRACLE WORKER

GREASE
February 21 - March 15
Book, Music and Lyrics by Jim Jacobs and Warren Casey.
Rydell Highs spirited class of 59 comes
to the Civic stage, with gum-chewing, hot rod loving boys and their
wise-crackin girls in bobby sox and poodle skirts. Nostalgic songs
recall the Buddy Holly hiccups, Little Richard yodels and Elvis Presley
wiggles that made the music of the 50s a gas. This lively musical is
filled with great dancing and sheer energy that might have you rockin
in the aisles!

THE
PIANO LESSON
April 17-27
A Drama by August Wilson
August Wilson won his second Pulitzer Prize
for this haunting drama about a sister and brothers feud over
a piano that has been in their family for generations. More than just
a piano, this incredible hand-carved piece of art details the familys
remarkable rise from slavery. This magnificent and inspiring story that
embodies the painful past and expectant future of black Americans is
brought to life on the Civic stage.

MISS
NELSON IS MISSING!
May 7-11, 15-18
Based on the books Miss Nelson is Missing and Miss Nelson
is Back by Harry Allard & James Marshall, adapted by Joan Cushing
Based upon the popular book series, the unruly students
of room 207 cant seem to treat their teacher with respect. So,
Miss Nelson retaliates by dressing up as a substitute teacher named
Miss Viola Swamp, who terrorizes the students with piles of homework.
In the end, the clever Miss Nelson returns and is somehow knowingly
pleased to find a newly appreciative, and respectful version of her
class!

IN THE WINGS
June 5-21
A Comedy by Noel Coward
Cowards tribute to theatre is set in
The Wings, a dilapidated charity home for aged actresses. Jealousy abounds
among the former stars, and sets the stage for a wealth of sophisticated
wit and a collection of tangled subplots. While some of the homes
inhabitants idle away with needlepoint and chatter, a feud between two
rival Grande Dames fills the home with classic banter and one-liners
that are a signature of Cowards style.
