Kyle Burton Black   Kyle Burton Black (Tony Kirby) is making his Civic debut in You Can't Take It With You. No stranger to the stage, however, he has performed in Fiddler on the Roof with Heritage and Jewish Theatre, Gods Man in Texas with Cornerstone University, and Joseph... with Circle Theatre. He is currently the producer of Grand Rapid's Big and Small Productions, and is a dance teacher and choreographer at Ada Dance Academy.
John Boeze   John Boeze (Man #2) is making his stage debut in You Can't Take It With You. John took his first acting class at GRCT last fall. His instructor, Paula Fuentes, encouraged all of her students to audition for You Can't Take It With You, just for the experience - and John won a role. He starts his next class soon after this production finishes. John is employed with Everdry Waterproofing.
Fred Bogaert   Fred Bogaert (Grandpa) is honored to be reprising his role as Grandpa from the 1990 Civic production of You Can't Take It With You. He has also been in Civic productions of Annie, Camelot, and Inherit the Wind. Fred has appeared onstage in Morning's At Seven, Prisoner of Second Avenue, and Over the River and Through the Woods at Circle Theatre.
Sherryl Despres   Sherryl Despres (Olga Katrina) was last seen onstage at Civic in The Women. Other Civic credits include Dearly Departed, Jack and the Giant Beanstalk, The Real Thing, and Amadeus ('85). She has also appeared in The Three Musketeers, Twelfth Night, and How He Lied To Her Husband for Heritage Theatre Group; Sylvia and Sound of Music for Flat River Players; Soar, Sor Juana for Actors as well as several industrial films, infomercials and indie films. Sherryl is pursuing a bachelor's degree at Grand Valley and is on the Board of Heritage Theatre Group. "I'd like to thank Michael, Christopher, and Kyler for letting me come out to play."
Sherri Lynne Evans   Sherri Lynne Evans (Rheba) is excited to be making her theatrical debut at Civic Theatre. She has been seen with KTF Productions in Keep The Faith, The Knight of the Daye, Great Awakening, and Rezin. She would like to thank God, her family, and her friends for all of their prayers and support
Daniel E. Falicki   Daniel E. Falicki (Ed Carmichael) was last seen onstage at Civic in Annie (2002). He has also performed with Magic Circle Theatre in The Hobbit, Robin Hood, The Jungle Book, and Treasure Island, and with Jewish Theatre in The Sunshine Boys and Rosenstrause. Dan was a member of Grand Rapids Civic Theatre's Part of a Complete Breakfast improv team, and has been involved with the X-Performance Group and Rogue River Players.
Tom Ferratt   Tom Ferratt (Man 1) is excited to be returning to Civic's stage after his debut last season in Dearly Departed. He was also seen in Our Town, Aquinas College's first production in their new performing arts center. He works with information technology at Aquinas.
John Patrick Foley   John Patrick Foley (Paul Sycamore) also played Paul in You Can't Take It With You at Civic Theatre in 1990. He has been onstage with Magic Circle in numerous children's shows and has appeared onstage at Civic, LLC Classical Theatre, Opera Grand Rapids, Actor's Theatre, Madame Babe's, Robeson Players, Centre Stage, and Circle Theatre. Some of his favorite shows include DA, Seven Year Itch, Mass Appeal, The Odd Couple, and Glen Gary Glen Ross.
Melissa Fortino   Melissa Fortino (Essie Carmichael) has a B.A in Theatre from GVSU. Some of her credits from Grand Valley include Whoever Said I Was a Good Girl, No Exit, The Laramie Project, and Idiots Delight. Since graduation, she has worked at GRCT, Opera Grand Rapids, in voice-overs, acting workshops for children, and an after-school drama program at Westwood Middle School. She is currently working as a House Manager and teacher at Civic, as well as volunteering as an actor, for school tours, and auditions. Her last performance at Civic was in The Women. Timothy Gilmore   Timothy Gilmore (Kolenkhov) is performing for the first time at Civic Theatre. He has a BFA in theatre and interpretation from CMU, where he performed in Hedda Gabler. Other theatre credits include Brown Pelican, Pinocchio, and Of Mice and Men at Muskegon Community College, and Hamlet and Peter Pan at WMU.
Deborah Kik   Deborah Kik (Gay Wellington) was last seen at Civic in A Christmas Carol. She has also performed with Lowell Thebes Players in Arsenic and Old Lace, with Jewish Theatre in Rosenstrause, and at Ladies Lit Theatre. She has crewed and stage managed many shows around town at Opera Grand Rapids, Magic Circle, Heritage, and Actor's. She is currently on the board of Jewish Theatre Grand Rapids.
Joseph LaChappelle   Joseph LaChappelle (Donald) has appeared in several Civic productions over the past 9 years, most recently as Candy in Of Mice and Men. Joe has acted in, or crewed, over 30 shows. This past year, he appeared in The Cemetery Club (JTG), A Midsummer Nights Dream (HTG), and The Exonerated (Actors Theatre). Thomas Lafferty   Thomas Lafferty (Mr. DePinna) is making his Civic debut in You Can't Take It With You. He is no stranger to the show, however, playing the role of Tony with the Flat River Players, and directing it for Carson City High School. He has also been seen onstage in Fiddler on the Roof, Butterflies are Free, Footlight Frenzy, Blithe Spirit, and Grease for the Flat River Players.
Amy Machuta   Amy Machuta (Alice Sycamore) was last seen on Civic's stage as Miss Clavel in Madeline. She appeared in Stuart Little at Civic. Around town she has performed in Fiddler on the Roof with Master Arts Theatre, and Music Man, Annie, Lazarus, Anne of Green Gables, and Brigadoon at other various theatres. Amy volunteers with Big Brothers Big Sisters and enjoys working with the children at Southwood Elementary.
Sandy Navis   Sandy Navis (Penny Sycamore) was last seen onstage at Civic in Rumors. Other Civic credits include Amadeus and The Magic of Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle. Sandy has performed at Actor's Theatre in The Exonerated, Arcadia, and The Herbal Bed, at Heritage Theatre in She Stoops to Conquer, and at Jewish Theatre in Crossing Delancy. She was also in the films Last Chair and Grandpa's Gotta Go!
Ken Parrish   Ken Parrish (Anthony Kirby) is appearing in his first show at Grand Rapids Civic Theatre. Other credits include Escanaba in da Moonlight for the Lowell Thebes Players and The Real Inspector Hound for Circle Theatre. Mike Roberts   Mike Roberts (Henderson) makes his stage debut in You Can't Take It With You. He is a buyer for Gordon Food Service, and would like to thank his mom, dad, and two younger brothers for their support.
Eva Switek   Eva Switek (Miriam Kirby) is a veteran when it comes to performing. She was last seen onstage at Civic Theatre reprising her role as the Stepmother in Cinderella. Eva has performed at Civic Theatre in A Chorus Line, The Wind in the Willows, School House Rock, The Velveteen Rabbit, and The Sound of Music; and at Circle Theatre, Actor's Theatre, LLC Classical Theatre, and with New City Players. She has performed at places such as the BOB with Tony & Tina's Wedding, Red Barn Playhouse and Muskegon's Cherry County Playhouse. She was nominated for a Grand Award for her performances in Cinderella and Annie. She thanks her husband, Daniel, for his constant love and support in all that she does.
Sheri Beth Dusek   Sheri Beth Dusek (Assistant Director) recently finished directing Comedy of Errors at Heritage Theatre group. She has been seen onstage at Civic in Rumors, The Children's Hour, Arsenic and Old Lace, and Inherit the Wind. Other theatre credits include Lysistrata with Heritage Theatre, Social Security with Jewish Theatre, and Mornings at Seven with Circle Theatre. Sheri Beth has also performed professionally with Second City, Urban Gateways, and Wing and Groove Theatre in Chicago.
Kathy J. Mountz   Kathy J. Mountz (Stage Manager) is excited to be stage managing her first show at Civic Theatre. She is no stranger to the theatre, however, volunteering over 1,000 hours last season. Recent credits at Civic include Cinderella, Ragtime, The Women, and Scrooge. She has also worked at Circle Theatre on Beehive, La Cage Aux Folles, and Baby. "Thanks to Andy Schneider and Mary Jo Denolf for teaching me all I know about stage management and to my friends and family for supporting all that I do."
