Cast Photos and Bios

D. Alexander Agard   D. Alexander Agard (Bisset, Ghost of Christmas Present) should be a familiar face to Civic audiences after his performance of Booker T. Washington in last season's Ragtime. Alex has been in Baby and La Cage Aux Folles at Circle Theatre and most recentlywas seen singing in the role of "Jim" in Porgy and Bess with Opera Grand Rapids. He also was an Ensemble member in Actor's Theatre production of Bat Boy. Alex is currently a member of local cabaret show called, Heart and Music. He is currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in theatre at Calvin College and a minor in vocal performance.
Sydney Lauren Aldrich   Sydney Lauren Aldrich (Fan, Rich Girl) was last seen on Civic's stage as Madeline in The Adventures of Madeline. Her debut was in Civic's The Velveteen Rabbit as the Mouse at age eight. Syndey is a member of the School of Theatre Arts. She plays piano, does gymnastics, and loves to sing. Sydney is in the 4th grade at Valley View Elementary. "I would like to thank the Jensen's for getting me involved with Civic, Mrs. Visser for helping me with singing, and my family for supporting and encouraging me!"
Caleb Brooks   Caleb Brooks (Young Ebby/Urchin) loves big musicals, having appeared in Civic productions' of Cinderella, The Wizard of Oz and Peter Pan. He was also in Tom Sawyer at Master Arts Theatre and in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory at Holland Civic Theatre. Caleb is a freelance talent who recently filmed a documentary for the History Channel. He is a member of the Grand Rapids Civic Theatre School of Arts. Caleb is in the 6th Grade at Excel Charter Academy.
Jay Brooks   Jay Brooks (Tom Jenkins) owns and operates Affinity Marketing Servics and was last seen at Civic in last seasons' Dearly Departed. He also appeared in Anne of Green Gables, Peter Pan and the voice of the narrator in Winnie-the-Pooh. Jay started acting at the age of 9 as Oliver Twist in Oliver with Omaha Playhouse and appeared in several productions while growing up. Locally, he has also appeared in Tom Sawyer with Master Arts, Raucous Romance in Saugatuck's 3rd Coast Theatre Company, and is a local freelance actor. Jay is a member of the Grand Rapids School of Theatre Arts and the Director of Drama Ministry at Cornerstone Church.
Chris Carnevale   Chris Carnevale (Hugo Hearty, Mr. Fezziwig) has appeared in many performances for Civic Theatre, most recently in the season opener, Cotton Patch Gospel. Last season, Chris appeared as the ketchup loving Lennie in Of Mice and Men, for which he won the 2004 Grand Award for Best Lead Actor in a play. Some of his highlights are Anne of Green Gables, Peter Pan, Cinderella, Winnie the Pooh, Sweeney Todd, and Annie. He has also worked behind the scenes as stage manager (Little Shop of Horrors), assistant director (Moon over Buffalo and Annie), and choreographer (The Velveteen Rabbit and You're a Good Man Charlie Brown). Chris has also appeared onstage at Circle Theatre, Actors Theatre, Jewish Theatre and Heritage Theatre. He served as Assistant Choreographer for Fiddler on the Roof for Heritage and Jewish Theatres this past summer. Chris also choreographs for Forest Hills Central High School.
Tyler Davis   Tyler Davis (Wine Seller, Dick Wilkins) appeared in last season's production of Cinderella as a member of the Male Ensemble. Tyler is currently employed with Star Theatre and is earning his associates degree at Grand Rapids Community College. A graduate of Rockford High School, Tyler appeared in several productions there including, Hello, Dolly, Guys and Dolls and Once on This Island. He would like to thank his family and friends for all their support during the show.
John Diehm   John Diehm (Urchin) is making his fourth appearance here at Civic, having been a member of the ensemble in Cinderella last season. John has been featured in our Children's Theatre productions of Winnie-the-Pooh and The Velveteen Rabbit. John is a home schooled 8th grader who loves acting, singing and dancing. He has also performed in and around other local community theatres. John is a member of the Grand Rapids Civic Theatre School of Theatre Arts.
Katie Duiven   Katie Duiven (Belinda Cratchit) is also a returning cast member from Civic's 1999 production of Scrooge. Katie has appeared in Anne of Green Gables and Winnie-the-Pooh for Civic. She was also seen in Circles' Joseph... Katie is eleven and in the sixth grade at Northern Trails.
Amy Henry   Amy Henry (Mrs. Ethel Cratchit)is returning to the Civic Stage after a much too long hiatus. Amy has appeared in many CT shows including Really Rosie, Annie Get Your Gun, How to Eat Like a Child, and Sleeping Beauty. She has also worked at Circle Theatre and was a musical theatre major at Western Michigan University. Amy is currently employed with Spectrum Health. She thanks Penny for giving the Civic Theatre experience to her once again.
Stephen Hohendorf   Stephen Hohendorf (Peter Cratchit) recently completed a six-month stint in the national tour of The Full Monty. Stephen has appeared with Civic in The Velveteen Rabbit, Winnie-the-Pooh, Dracula's Treasure, Anne of Green Gables, The Wizard of Oz and Free to Be you and Me. He has also appeared with Hope College Summer Rep. and Heritage Theatre. Stephen is a member of the School of Theatre Arts and past recipient of the "Kopka Seats Award" for an outstanding newcomer to the Civic Stage. He is a freshman at Catholic Central High School.
Kate Kilpatrick   Kate Kilpatrick (Chestnut Seller) first appeared with Civic Theatre in Stuart Little. Kate is an active member of Civic's Summer Repertory Program having appeared in last summer's The Glass Slipper. She is in the 10th grade at Forest Hills Central High School where she has appeared in Footloose and Bye, Bye Birdie.
Brandon Joel Langeland   Brandon Joel Langeland (Fred/Young Ebenezer) is making his debut with Civic Theatre in Scrooge. A theatre graduate from Calvin College, Brandon has appeared in many Calvin Productions including Return of the Prodigal, Still Life with Iris and Twelfth Night. Brandon has done extensive independent study in Opera.
Hannah Lantz   Hannah Lantz (Martha Cratchit) , a freshman at Newaygo High School is working at Civic for the first time. Hannah has appeared in the title role in Annie Warbucks with Stage Door Players and in the ensemble of Oliver with Lion Heart Productions.
Mary Lehman   Mary Lehman (Urchin) is making her first appearance on Civic's Stage. This past summer Mary played the title role in Flat River Community Player's production of Annie. She is in the 6th Grade at Millcreek Middle School. Mary has extensive voice and dance training and danced with Moscow Ballet in a local production of The Nutcracker.
Clark MacFarlane   Clark MacFarlane (Tiny Tim) first appeared at Civic in last season's Cinderella. Clark was a member of the Children's Chorus in Circle's production of Joseph... He is currently studying voice with Kathy Wagner. Clark is in the 4th grade at Forest Hills Knapp Forest School and dedicates this performance to his sister, Brittney.
Jason Masters   Jason Masters (Bob Cratchit) is returning to Civic after far too long of an absence. Jason last performed here in the role of "Bob Cratchit" in the 1999 production of Scrooge. For his work in Scrooge, Jason was nominated for a Grand Award in the Supporting Actor category. Other shows here at Civic include The Wizard of Oz, Camelot and Moon over Buffalo. Jason has performed with Circle Theatre, 10 Weston, UICA, Ladies Literary Club, Spectrum Theatre, and others.
Amy E. McDaniel   Amy E. McDaniel (Ghost of Christmas Past) has performed on the Civic Stage most recently as "Jane" in The Women. Other Civic shows include Camelot, The Wizard of Oz, Cinderella (98), The Sound of Music and Rebecca. This marks Amy's third appearance as am otherworldly being here at Civic. Amy has also appeared with Circle Theatre, Actor's Theatre, Opera Grand Rapids, Caledonia Community Players and LLC. She is a realtor with Five Star Real Estate.
Marla McFadden   Marla McFadden (Mrs. Pringle) is a CT veteran appearing in many shows including The Velveteen Rabitt, You Can't Take It With You, Life with Father, Inherit the Wind, Sylvia (97 and 01), Pinocchio, Alice Through the Looking Glass and Anne of Green Gables. Marla is an accomplished massage therapist, nurse, and the proud mother of Pete, the loveable dog that appeared in last season's Of Mice and Men.
Hannah Melton   Hannah Melton (Kathy Cratchit) is making her debut on the Civic Stage with Scrooge. Hannah was last seen in Circle Theatre's production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. Hannah has attended many summer camps and classes here at Civic and studies private voice with Kathy Wagner. She is in the 4th Grade at Emmons Lake Elementary. Hannah would like to dedicate her performance to her new sister Natasha.
Kristen Michelle Moss   Kristen Michelle Moss (Bess, Mrs. Fezziwig) last appeared at Civic as a member of the Harlem Ensemble in last seasons' Ragtime. She has performed with Circle Theatre in Baby and Once on this Island. Most recently, Kristen was a member of the GR Opera Chorus and their production of Porgy and Bess.
Steve Place   Steve Place (Ebenezer Scrooge) is fast becoming a Civic regular with such appearances as "J.P. Morgan" in Ragtime, "Daddy Warbucks" in Annie, "The King" in Cinderella and "Bill Jukes" in Peter Pan. Steve is a member of the School of Theatre Arts here at Civic. Steve is employed through Habitat for Humanity and is pursuing a Masters in Secondary Education.
Jenna_Pope   Jenna Pope (Urchin) last appeared at Civic as "The Little Girl" in Ragtime. Other Civic shows include The Wizard of Oz, The Velveteen Rabbit and Cinderella (03). Jenna is a member of the Opera Grand Rapids Children's Chorus and a current member of Civic's School of Theatre Arts. She has also worked with Flat River Community Players and Ionia Community Theatre. Jenna is in the 7th Grade at Central Middle School.
Ashli Roberts   Ashli Roberts (Isabel/Helen) was a member of the ensemble in last season's Cinderella. Ashli is a junior at Grand Valley State University where she has appeared in The Vagina Monologues, Idiots Delight and The Merchant of Venice. She also appeared in Much Ado about Nothing at the Elk Grove Center for the Performing Arts in Chicago. Ashli would like to give her loving thanks to her parents and her brother as well as her "gorgeous" friends for all of their unending support.
Matthew David Stansfield   Matthew David Stansfield (Punch and Judy Man, Topper) last appeared at Civic as a member of the ensemble in last season's Cinderella. Matt has also appeared at Circle Theatre in Baby and at Aquinas College in Our Town. He is a student at Aquinas College majoring in Applied Music.
Johnny Stellard   Johnny Stellard (Urchin, Phantom Dancer) first appeared at Civic in the 1999 Production of Scrooge. Since then, Johnny has appeared in Cinderella, The Wizard of Oz, Peter Pan and Anne of Green Gables. He is a member of the School of Theatre Arts and Creative Arts Repertory Ensemble. Johnny is currently a junior at East Grand Rapids High School where he is active in the music and drama program.
Ken Stults   Ken Stults (Jocelyn Jollygoode) is performing in his first Civic Theatre Production with Scrooge. Ken is an active member of the drama program at Grand Rapids First Assembly appearing in numerous shows including The Power of One Man's Touch and The Awakening of Scrooge. He is the president and owner of Stults and Associates and represents Nationwide Insurance. Ken dedicates this performance to his incredible and supporting family and the Lord.
Sharon Stults   Sharon Stults (Mrs. Dilber) is happy to be making her CT debut alongside her husband, Ken, who also appears in tonight's production. Sharon is no stranger to the stage, however. She has appeared in many productions including Oklahoma, South Pacific, My Fair Lady, West Side Story and Anything Goes. Sharon would like to dedicate her performance to the Lord, her parents for paying for all those voice and piano lessons, her husband Ken and daughter Jennifer, for being her two best encouragers.
Emma Vargo   Emma Vargo (Molly Cratchit) is excited to appear in her first Civic show. Emma and her family recently moved to GR from North Carolina where Emma appeared as Molly in the Greensboro Community Theatre production of Annie. She is in the 3rd grade at Breton Downs Elementary.
Luke Virkstis   Luke Virkstis (Urchin) most recently performed with the Civic's Traveling Troupe in the original adaptation of The Tomato Collection. He has also worked on several backstage crews at Civic. Luke has been a member of the GRCT School of Theatre Arts for many years and has worked as an assistant at West Catholic High School's Drama Summer Camp. His past performance credits include The Music Man, A Christmas Carol and Annie.
Scott Wahlfeldt   Scott Wahlfeldt (Jacob Marley) was last seen at Civic in the 1999 Production of Scrooge as the Ghost of Christmas Present. Scott is very active with Flat River Community Players appearing in many shows including Annie, Arsenic and Old Lace, Lion in Winter, Fiddler on the Roof, and Lend Me a Tenor. He says, "Thanks to Penny for allowing me to experience Scrooge again." Scott would like to dedicate his performance to his wife Karin and kids Sean, Cassie and Alex.
Jeannie Wiarda   Jeannie Wiarda (Beggar Women, Mary) is appearing in her fourth show for Civic. She has been seen in Ragtime, The Velveteen Rabbit and Annie. Jeannie was the recipient of the Kopka Seats Award in 2003 for most promising newcomer of the season at Civic. She served as Choreographer for Creston High School's production of Fiddler on the Roof. Jeannie is employed as a medical social worker for Spectrum Health. "Thanks to William for being my best friend and biggest supporter and to Kathryn for the music."
Elise Witt   Elise Witt (Miss Dilber) is making her first appearance with Civic. Elise was a member of the Children's Chorus in Circle's Production of Joseph... She has also worked with Flat River Community Players and Greenville Community Center. Elise is member of Civics' School of Theatre Arts. She is a junior at Rockford High School where she has been recognized as the "Outstanding Freshman and Sophomore Soloist."
Judy Genson   Judy Genson (Choreographer) is happy to re-create her work for Scrooge for which she received a Grand Award for Outstanding Choreography in 1999. Judy also choreographed Civic's holiday productions Cinderella (98) (03) and The Wizard of Oz. Judy has danced in many productions in West Michigan including performances at Circle Theatre and Sagatuck's Red Barn Theatre. She served as Master Technician at Circle Theatre for seven years. Judy is the founder, artistic director, and resident choreographer for Creative Arts Repertoire Ensemble (C.A.R.E.). She teaches several ballet classes at the Moving Company.
Charles Hutchins   Charles Hutchins (Musical Director) has been musical director for Always... Patsy Cline, Cinderella (03)Kiss Me Kate, You're a Good Man Charlie Brown, Peter Pan ('02), The Wizard of Oz, Trixie True: Teen Detective, and Schoolhouse Rock Live!. He was assistant musical director for Scrooge and Cinderella ('98). He received the 1997 Grand Award for Music Direction for Circle's Production of Passion and the 1999 Grand Award for Best Supporting Actor in a Musical for his performance in Civics' Fiddler on the Roof. He has also worked with Actor's Theatre, LLC Classical Theatre, and Opera Grand Rapids. He is an adjunct professor for Grand Valley State University.
  Kylie Piette (Assistant Stage Manager) began her career at Civic three years ago as second sound board operator for Annie. Since then she has crewed six other shows here, her most recent as the Assistant Stage Manager for Cotton Patch Gospel. Kylie has also work for Circle Theatre and Heritage Theatre. She is employed with the Michigan Department of Civil Rights.
Andrew J. Schneider   Andrew J. Schneider (Assistant Director/Stage Manager) is happy to return to Civic as a member of the production staff for Scrooge. Last season, Andrew performed "triple-duty" in Ragtime starting out as a member of the ensemble, then moving into the role of Stage Manager and finally ending the run as "Tateh" the Jewish immigrant. For his efforts on Ragtime, Andrew received the 2004 "Above and Beyond" Award from Civic. A versatile Performer and Stage Manager, Andrew has appeared in many productions at Civic including Always Patsy Cline, Annie, Sweeney Todd, The Wizard of Oz, Peter Pan, Much Ado about Nothing and the 1999 production of Scrooge where he portrayed the role of "Tom Jenkins." He is constantly working all over town with Circle Theatre, Heritage Theatre, Jewish Theatre, Opera GR, and Mason Street Warehouse in Saugatuck. A company member of Better than Vegas Productions (BTV), Andrew recently completed a three-month run in Babaloo! at Mezze Cafˇ and Cabaret and has a cabaret show currently available called Heart and Music with his closest friends. He would like to thank his parents, Bob and Kath, Penny and Jim, Molly and Brendan for their constant love and support. "I could not do it without you guys!"
