OUR 2004-05 SEASON
This is the award-winning, good times, good news musical adapted from Clarence Jordan's book, 'The Cotton Patch Version of Matthew and John,' set to the music of Harry Chapin.
Lilly is a little mouse that wears cowboy boots and a crown. What better accessory than a purple purse that makes her feel on top of the world. A great family show.
This fabulous musical returns to the Civic stage after a five-year hiatus. Filled with Dickens' classic characters - Tiny Tim, Bob Cratchit, and Ebeneezer Scrooge®, and unforgettable songs - 'Thank You Very Much', 'I Like Life', and 'Father Christmas,' to name just a few - it's a show that brings the spirit of the season to audiences in a way nothing else can.
In the vein of all the reality shows that abound these days, this zany comedy could easily be called, 'My Big, Fat, Obnoxious Family.' What happens when Alice brings her very proper beau Tony home to meet her quirky relatives? Hilarity, that's what. A great way to throw off the post-holiday, winter blahs.
Comes to the Civic stage fresh from a smash Broadway revival. It's the compelling story of Mama June, Baby Louise, and Rose - a family chasing a dream that races ahead of them, always just out of reach until they're just out of time. Jule Styne's music and Stephen Sondheim's lyrics will have you tapping your toes with such favorites as Let Me Entertain You, All I Need is the Girl, and Everything's Coming Up Roses. With great songs, great dancing, and a great story, it's a sure bet that 'you'll have a real good time!'
'Lizzie Borden took an axe...' Did she, or didn't she? Shrouded in nearly a century of mystery, Sharon Pollock's play is a haunting, chilling, and ultimately tantalizing presentation that is riveting and brilliant. It's 'edge of your seat' excitement.
This is the story of a precocious little girl who loves to spy on her parents, neighbors, and friends. It's all harmless fun - until the journal in which she has written down everyone's comings and goings falls into the hands of her classmates. Outrage and indignation follow. Has Harriet lost her friends forever? Even worse, does this mean her days as a spy are over? The whole family will enjoy this play, based on the popular family movie.
This is the quintessential romantic comedy. When Isabel's grandmother worries that her niece is too complacent about getting married, she does what any loving grandmother would - she hires a matchmaker! Will it be the handsome author, or Sam, the local pickle vendor? A tender and charming tale that will gladden the heart and evoke many contented sighs.
