CIVIC THEATRE TRAVELING TROUPE
The School of Theatre Arts presents the Traveling Troupe is an outreach program to promote theatre awareness in the Grand Rapids community. Since 1990, each Spring a group of teen actors has toured the city, bringing live theatre to schools, retirement homes, and local organizations - all free of charge. Last year, the troupe played to over 4,000 people in the Grand Rapids area.
The Traveling Troupe is comprised of student performers, ages 12 to 19 years old who are invited by the School of Theatre Arts to audition for the troupe. The troupe varies in number, usually between twelve and sixteen performers in two ensembles. Each ensemble performs once a week on average, traveling to surrounding-area elementary schools. The Traveling Troupe presents a new show every year -- productions can range from published and produced works to original productions, conceived, written, and directed by the troupe itself.
For questions about our having the Traveling Troupe perform at your school or organization, please contact us online or call our Education Department directly at 616-222-6653.
