OUR 2008 SUMMER REPERTORY PRODUCTIONS

The Summer Repertory Troupe produces not one, but two shows suitable for the whole family each summer. These shows are presented “in rep” (i.e. on alternate evenings) in July and August. Designed for teens aged 14 - 19 with some previous theatre training, this is a college-level program in both performance and technical theatre. Though the program emphasizes training in the entire spectrum of theatre-related skills, no tuition is charged.

After being selected through an intense audition and interview process, each trouper is cast in one show, and assigned a backstage job for the performance of the other show. Then, supervised by theatre professionals, the troupers are involved in the production from the ground up constructing all sets and costumes; assembling props and set dressings; working on lights, sound, and make-up. In addition, they publicize their production doing everything needed: from selling playbill ads to distributing posters to promoting ticket sales.

Each SRT production is fully developed, fully rehearsed and presented with all the bells and whistles onstage at GRCT. The SRT process mirrors that of a professional repertory company, but the experience is possibly more intense! The young volunteers must accomplish all goals in about three weeks time. You can expect the same high quality from these production as you do all Civic Theatre shows. Your entire family will enjoy them.

In addition, there are two other great kids productions, one in the Fall and one in the Spring, which would also be enjoyed by young families.
