The school offers a complete range of acting, dance, and technical theatre classes for preschool children through adults. Each year, over 1,800 students attend classes and workshops at the Grand Rapids Civic Theatre. During the fall, winter, and spring terms, twenty to thirty instructors conduct classes, workshops, and seminars. In the summer term as many as thirty-five instructors teach the regular classes, the summer theatre camps, Summer Repertory Theatre, and special programs.

Throughout the year, the school presents intensive one-day workshops in all theatre-related topics - everything from directing to theatre make-up to lighting design to stage combat. The workshops are taught by instructors from the Arts Community at large - as well as the Grand Rapids Civic Theatre professional staff.

The School of Theatre Arts Traveling Troupe is comprised of student performers, ages 12 to 19 years old who travel and perform at surrounding-area elementary schools. Click here for more information.
