Our outstanding theatre school offers a variety of classes for everyone from pre-school age children through adults. It is really a pleasure to offer such a scope of theatre classes ­ all taught by professional artists who love to pass on their skills! To be able to teach theatre in a wonderful, newly-renovated theatre is even better!

The Civic Theatre’s nationally recognized Theatre Wheel curriculum breaks down acting techniques into manageable groups of skills: Characterization, Scene Study, and Improvisation. Each term offers a different focus, and classes are available for all ages. There’s no prior experience required, and once you’ve graduated from one age level, you can move on to the next and learn new and more challenging skills and techniques. Students who have completed theatre wheel classes may also qualify for more advanced performance troupes!

Classes and Workshops are held onsite at the Grand Rapids Civic Theatre [GRCT] unless otherwise specified in writing. No visitors in the classroom. Students are more confident making creative choices without an audience. If parent has a specific concern, call the Education office to arrange for class observation. GRCT cannot assume responsibility for any visiting child accompanying a student to class.
