Traveling Troupe 2017 opens with a FREE performance on March 4th at 11am on Civic’s Meijer Majestic Stage!  Get ready for a musical experience straight from the pages of Mo Willems’ beloved, award-winning, best-selling children’s books that will leave audiences doing the “Flippy Floppy Floory” dance all night long!  In Elephant and Piggie’s ‘We Are In A Play!’, an Elephant named Gerald and a Pig named Piggie take to the stage in a rollicking adventure perfect for young audiences.

This year’s Traveling Troupe Production is going on the road to: GR Ellington Academy, Coit Creative Arts Academy, Ada Elementary, Orchard View Elementary, Excel Charter Academy, Bowen Elementary, Congress Elementary, Lakes Elementary, Godfrey-Lee Early Child Center, VanGuard Charter Academy, Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital and GR Ford Academic Center!

Free Performances for the Public will be held at:

Grand Rapids Civic Theatre.  Saturday, March 4th at 11am.

Wyoming Public Library. Saturday, April 15th at 10am.

Greenville Area Community Center.  Saturday, May 6th at 1:30pm.

Grand Rapids Festival of the Arts.  Saturday, June 3rd.  Time & Location TBA.

To put your school on the waiting list, please send an email to: outreach@grct.org.  Wait List schools for 2017 will receive priority booking for 2018.

WHAT IS TRAVELING TROUPE?

The Traveling Troupe is a Grand Rapids Civic Theatre outreach program offering local schools and community venues the opportunity to have live theatre travel to them! Now in its 26th year, the Traveling Troupe has produced a different show each year, and has played to more than 156,000 children and adults – always completely free of charge.

“This play was commissioned by the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts and was first produced at the Kennedy Center during the 2013-2014 season.”
