Who's Who...

The cast of our 2008/2009 GRCT Traveling Troupe:
THE TALES OF MOLLY MALLOY

 

Terri Foley (Road Manager) is returning for the second year as the road manager for the Troupe. She managed last year’s stage production of The Adventures of Nate the Great as well as the Traveling Troupe version of the same show. She is a member of the School of Theatre Arts, having completed the Adult Acting Wheel and several performance classes. Her first show on the Civic stage was Harriet the Spy in 2005.

 

Rebecca Hansen (Nell/Edith) is a junior at West Catholic High School. Her first show at Civic was last year’s production of High School Musical. Rebecca has also appeared in her high school production of The Mouse That Roared and a production of A Christmas Carol at St. Cecelia Music Society. Rebecca was a Michigan Interscholastic Forensic Association Semifinalist in Sales at the State Finals in 2007. Rebecca also plays clarinet and has danced with Linda Moon School of Dance.

 

Bryce Hutson (Parson/Prince) is in the 8th grade at East Rockford Middle School. This is his second time touring with the Traveling Troupe. Other theater credits include Scrooge at Rogue River where he played Young Scrooge and Plain Shawl as Jeremiah Jacobs. He has also appeared in shows at BHB Church as Hot Rod in Race to Win and as A Regular Boy in Worship Arts Camp. Bryce also is in a Hospice commercial airing on television.

 

Noah King-Bates (Farmer Malloy/Prime Minister) was recently seen on the Civic stage in the 2008 Summer Repertory production of Alice. He is a junior at East Kentwood High School were he received his varsity letter in drama. At school he has appeared in Anne of a Thousand Days and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. Noah plays the violin and drums and also enjoys break dancing, basketball, track and karate.

 

Kelsey May (Molly) is a freshman at Northview High School. She is a member of the School of Theatre Arts.  Kelsey has completed the Theatre Wheel and been in the performance class production of Romeo and Juliet at Verona High. Her first show at Civic was The Moppet Show during Theatre Arts Day Camp. Other stage credits include Cheaper by the Dozen and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory for school. Kelsey plays the guitar and sings in the school choir.

 

Anthony Murphy (Parson/Prince) first appeared onstage at GRCT in the 2004 production Lilly’s Purple Plastic Purse. Anthony is also a member of GRCT’s School of Theatre Arts – finishing an Acting Theatre Wheel and appearing in two Phase II shows – most recently as Pan in Pandora’s Box.  He was last seen on stage in the SRT production of Alice. In addition, he’s been a member of the last three Traveling Troupes. Other credits include Willy Wonka in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Peter in The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe and Larry in Cheaper By The Dozen at Northview High School where he is a freshman.

 

Grace Perkins (Molly) was in last summer’s production of Alice as well as last year’s Traveling Troupe production of The Adventures of Nate the Great. She’s also a member of GRCT’s School of Theatre Arts and has finished the High School acting Theatre Wheel. Grace has appeared in several Master Arts Theatre productions – Meet Me in St. Louis, The Homecoming and as Raja in I Never Saw Another Butterfly. Grace has participated in numerous productions in the drama class for home-schoolers, including the Baby Doll in The Velveteen Rabbit.

 

Michael Reese (Farmer Malloy / Prime Minister) appeared in his first Civic show last year. He was in the past Traveling Troupe performance of The Adventures of Nate the Great. He is a member of the School of Theatre Arts and a freshman at Grandville High School. Michael has completed the Theatre Wheel and appeared in several performance classes.

 

 

Natalie Scalabrino (Nell/Edith) is appearing in her first Civic show in this production of Tales of Molly Malloy. She is a member of the School of Theatre Arts and volunteers at the American Red Cross. Natalie is a freshman at West Catholic High School.

 

 

Kallen Schwark (Ralph/Edgar) first performed on the Civic stage in last year’s production of Miss Nelson Is Missing. He is a member of the School of Theatre Arts. He has appeared in the Phase II production of The Babysitter Diaries. He appeared in the ensemble of Opera Grand Rapids’ production of Carmen in 2007. Kallen is first chair clarinet in his seventh grade band at Central Middle School. He is in his third and final year in the Academically Talented Youth Program math series at GVSU.

 

Katherine Searcy (Pony/Peasant/Abigail/Hannah) is performing with the Traveling Troupe for the second time. She was in last year’s show The Adventures of Nate the Great. Katherine is a member of the School of Theatre Arts. Other credits include the Master Arts production of Cheaper by the Dozen as well as Jenison Junior High’s production of A Nuther Thing.

 

 

Mary Searcy (Agnes / Mrs. Miller / Annie / Queen) is excited to appear in her first show at Civic, appearing with her daughter makes it that much more special! She is a dancer and plays the clarinet and the guitar. Mary works for Kent District Library. In her spare time she enjoys sewing.

 

 

Rachel Sironen (Pony / Abigail / Peasant / Hannah) is excited to be performing in her first Civic show. She remembers seeing the 2005 Traveling Troupe come to her school when she was little and she thought to herself that she wanted to be in the Traveling Troupe herself someday and she is living her dream! She has been a member of the School of Theatre Arts since 2001, participating in many classes and camps. Rachel has performed in church productions of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Rishalina and the River, and Reformation.

 

Hannah Keirnan Skok (Agnes / Mrs. Miller / Annie / Queen) is excited to be performing in her first Civic show. She is a member of the School of Theatre Arts and has completed the Theatre Wheel. A lifeguard at the East Kentwood pool, Hannah learned to play the guitar just for this show!

 

 

Corey Sorg (Ralph/Edgar) is a member of the School of Theatre Arts as well as an 8th grade Homeschooler. He has been in performance classes at Civic in The King’s Twinkies, The Timid Dragon, While Shakespeare Slept, and the Phase II performance of The Babysitter Diaries. Corey has performed with the Grand Rapids Symphony Youth Choir and the Grand Rapids Ballet.

 

 

Charles R. Streidl (Squire/Miller/King) is a sophomore as East Grand Rapids High School as well as a member of the School of Theatre Arts. His first show at GRCT was a summer camp production back in 2000! He has completed the Theatre Wheel, appeared in a performance class production of Romeo and Juliet at Verona High. Charles has also taken the Broadway Bound class.

 

 

Brian VanVels (Squire/Miller/King) is in his first year of college at Aquinas. He is a member of the School of Theatre Arts and has appeared on the Civic stage many times most recently in Alice and Into the Woods Jr. He is an active volunteer and was the 2008 recipient of the “Leon Award” from Grand Rapids Civic Theatre. Beside Civic, recent on-stage appearances include Oklahoma!, The Sting, My Favorite Year, Harvey, and Fright Night.
