The cast of our 2008 Production of MISS NELSON IS MISSING

 

Baileigh Aldrich (Molly Sue Bailey) is thrilled to be back onstage at GRCT after performing in The Miracle Worker as a Blind Girl earlier this season. Past credits include The Wizard of Oz and Gypsy. Baileigh is very active in the Grand Rapids community having appeared in Honk! at Cornerstone University and Carmen with Opera Grand Rapids. Baileigh is currently in the fourth grade at Valley View Elementary, and is also a member of a gymnastics team! Baileigh has studied voice with Sherry Lee Allen. “I thank God for everything I’ve been in!” Civic School of Theatre Arts Student

 

Sydney Aldrich (Ann Marie Jane Murphy) is a 7th grader at North Rockford Middle School and made her GRCT debut as the mouse in The Velveteen Rabbit. Since then, Sydney has performed as the title role in The Adventures of Madeline, Scrooge, To Kill a Mockingbird, and The Wizard of Oz. Other area credits include Sunday In the Park With George and Oliver! with Circle Theatre, Honk! with Cornerstone University, and La Boheme with Opera Grand Rapids. At Rockford High School, she was in Oliver! and The Music Man. Sydney dances with Balletmore and has studied voice with Sherry Lee Allen and Charles Hutchins. Civic School of Theatre Arts Student

 
Joy Fledderjohann (Viola Swamp) is usually nicer than she looks. One of her first roles was Glenda in her high school production of The Wizard of Oz when the originally cast Glenda mysteriously twisted her ankle. She also played the Wicked Witch of the West at the OZ festival in Aberdeen, South Dakota and Vladimir in her college production of Waiting for Godot. In her spare time, she likes to grow greens, greens, and nothing but greens.
 

Elizabeth Lawrence (Miss Nelson) is back on the Civic stage having appeared in Tales of a 4th Grade Nothing, The Music Man, and The Wizard of Oz. Some of her favorite credits include Yvonne in Sunday in the Park With George at Circle Theatre and Handler in Talking With at Heritage Theatre. Joy has performed at the Theatre L’Homme Dieu in Minnesota and Pacific Theatre in Vancouver, BC. Joy is the costume shop manager for Calvin College and a freelance writer. Jessi Nahikian (Ella Mae O’Conner) is making her Civic Theatre debut. She performed in Honk! and Jane Eyre at Cornerstone University. Jessi has attended Interlochen Fine Arts Camp for three years and also worked with the Children’s Chorus for Opera Grand Rapids. She has danced for three years with the Grand Rapids Ballet Company and studies voice under Hollis Dobreff. Civic School of Theatre Arts Student

 

 
Edward Jay Nelson (Pop Hanson, Mr. Blandsord, Detective McSmogg) is no relation to Miss Nelson! He made his GRCT debut in 1992 with A Flea in Her Ear. Since then, Ed has performed in ten more productions including this season’s The Sound of Music as Franz the butler. Along with doing many GRCT Traveling Troupe productions, Ed has worked with Madame Babe’s Dinner Theatre, Jewish Theatre Grand Rapids, Actors’ Theatre, Ladies Literary Club, and Circle Theatre. He is an instructor for the Civic School of Theatre Arts.
 
Patrick Nowak (Theo Walker) is currently appearing in the Traveling Troupe production of The Adventures of Nate the Great. Past credits include Junie B. Jones and The Wizard of Oz. Other credits
include Honk! with Cornerstone University, Carmen with Opera Grand Rapids, and Pippin at Circle Theatre, where he will appear in Snow White and Tommy this Summer. Patrick dances with Creative Arts Repertoire Ensemble. Civic School of Theatre Arts Student

 

Maggie Nye (Danielle Larson) made her GRCT debut with The Adventures of Madeline and has since appeared as the title role in Harriet the Spy. Maggie also appeard in The Wizard of Oz, and Peter Pan. Other credits include Oliver! and Nine with Circle theatre, and Beauty and the Beast with Byron Center High School, where she is currently a freshman. She dances with Balletmore and studies voice with Charles Hutchins. Maggie has a black belt in Tae Kwon Do. “Thanks to my family for my backbone throughout this experience, and my yogies! I love you guys!” Civic School of Theatre Arts Student

 

 

Kallen Schwark (Joe Strapp) is performing at GRCT for the first time! He was in Carmen with Opera Grand Rapids. Kallen received the Michigan Math League Award in 2005, was 2nd place in the state for Quiz Bowl, and was a regional Spelling Bee competitor. He has been a member of The Forest Hills Children’s Choir, the Grand Rapids Symphony Jr. Youth Chorus, and the ACDA Elementary Honors Choir. Civic School of Theatre Arts Student

 

 

Jamie Staley (Arnold Webster) is a veteran to the GRCT stage, having performed in The Music Man, Peter Pan, and Oklahoma! He has been featured in local radio spots, and recently played the title role in Oliver! at Rockford High School. Jamie takes voice lessons with Aaron Bouwman and is 1st chair Alto Saxophone in the NRMS band. Civic School of Theatre Arts Student

 
Abby Van Slooten (Liza June Morrison) is appearing for the first time with the Civic Theatre. She has taken classes at Dance Dimensions, and performed as Brigitta in The Sound of Music at Forest Hills Central. Abby is in the 7th grade at Forest Hills Eastern. Civic School of Theatre Arts Student
 

L. William Vicari (Kurt) has performed in The Sound of Music and Really Rosie with GRCT. He is currently performing with the Civic School of Theatre Arts’ Traveling Troupe in The Adventures of Nate the Great. Will performed in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat and La Boheme at DeVos Hall and on the Bunny Train in Marne. He dances tap, takes voice with Kathy Wagner, and piano with Judy Admiral.
