Joseph
Scott Anthony (Charlie)
returns to the Civic Theatre for this production of The Foreigner,
having appeared in To Kill a Mockingbird in 2005. Joseph has
appeared on both stage and screen, appearing most recently in Sense
and Sensibility as Colonel Brandon at Master Arts Theatre, and in
Get Smart as Maxwell Smart Agent 86 at the Caledonia Civic Theatre.
He also played the role of Mr. Colbrin in a movie entitled “A Leaf in
Autumn” that was filmed through GVSU, and recently won Best of Show
at Film Festival.
Azsure
Dorton (Catherine) is appearing for the first time on the Grand
Rapids Civic Theatre stage with this production of The Foreigner.
While in school she performed in many various show. She graduated from
Millikin University in Decauter, Illinois with a BFA Major in Theatre,
a French Minor in dance. Azsure believes we all have value. As such,
she supports and encourages valuing diversity and promoting inclusion.
Joey
Hosty (Ellard) comes to the Grand Rapids Civic Theatre for the first
time for The Foreigner. He has also appeared in various other
shows including Once Upon a Mattress as a Knight with The Drama
Group, Merrily We Roll Along at LWE, as well as Esperanza
Rising as Mariachi and Brave Little Tailor at Aquinas College
where Joey is currently a sophomore studying Theatre and Business.
Judy
Johnson (Betty) is making her GRCT debut in The Foreigner. She
is well known in West Michigan for Directing and Choreographing plays
and musicals such as Beauty and the Beast, Joseph and the Amazing
Technicolor Dreamcoat, Seussical, and Jesus Christ Superstar.
She has appeared at Muskegon Civic Theatre in many shows including:
Inspecting Carol, The Nerd, Same Time Next Year, Love Letters,
and Chicago. GRCT is very excited to be welcoming such a talented
woman to our stage!
Patrick
MacLangs (Froggy) is joining us for a third performance in this
production of The Foreigner. He was last seen with the Civic Theatre
as Matthew in A Wonderful Life and Samuel Chase in 1776.
He has also appeared in Circle Theater’s production of The Full Monty
as Tony. “Thanks and love to my wife, children, and grandchildren.”
Michael
Phelps (David) has never appeared on the Civic Stage before, but
has participated in two classes on the Theatre Wheel in the Grand Rapids
Civic Theatre School of Theatre Arts. He has appears in various church
skits and movies on his own, but this would be his first community theatre
show ever!
Walt
Riegler (Owen) is welcomed back to the GRCT stage after appearing
in Blood Relations and Romeo & Juliet (’02). Other
shows that Walt has been a part of include Richard II as the
Duke of York with Heritage Theatre Group, as well as Cyrano DeBergerac(’99)
as the title role with the MAC.
