Arielle
Byl (Roberta/Mouse) is taking to the GRCT stage for the first time
in this production of Captain Louie. She has also performed in her high
school productions of Copacabana and M.A.S.H. and with Forest Hills
Summerstock productions of High School Musical II and Footloose.
Arielle is currently a junior at Forest Hills Eastern
High School, where
she expresses her other talents with Eastern Singers and the track team.
She has thoroughly enjoyed preparing for this show and making new friends.
Arielle would like to thank her family and friends for their support
and her Heavenly Father for His countless blessings!
Nick
Coulson (Ensemble)
is making his Civic Theatre debut. He has a strong interest in theatre
and music and is excited about this opportunity. He hopes to be in more
productions after this one. Nick is an eighth grader at Holy Spirit
School. He has been taking piano lessons for almost six years under
the instruction of Dr. Helen Marlais. He would like to thank all his family and friends
for their ecouragement and support.
Emily
Elderkin (Ensemble) is debuting at Civic Theatre in Captain Louie. She
is 11 years old and attends Grandville
Christian School.
She has danced for Kathy’s Dance Company’s Competitive Dance Team for
5 years, including national dance competitions. She has been involved
in productions at Resurrection Life Church
and is a member of the Praise and Worship Team and choir. She is also
in the choir at Calvin Christian. She is in the band at Grandville Christian
School, playing
the flute and also plays the piano. Emily thanks
her family and friends for their continued support and is grateful for
this opportunity.
Donovan
Jewell (Ensemble) is
happy to be returning to the Civic stage after appearing in Willy Wonka last spring, where he was an Oompa
Loompa (and was named their dance captain). With Rogue River Theatre
he was part of Scrooge’s Awakening where he played Peter Barrett and
“Ignorance”. Donovan
has also been enrolled in the summer camps with the School of Theatre Arts
and sings in his church Christmas choir. He plays club soccer on a U10 team for
SCOR, is in the Spanish Immersion program at RPS, which he is almost
fluent, and runs 5Ks with his family.

understanding and letting me get out of practice so I can rehearse for
the show and thanks to my family for giving up things so I can do this.”
Helen
LaGrand (Ensemble)
is debuting in Captain Louie,
her first show at the Grand Rapids Civic Theatre. She is a fourth grader
at Oakdale Christian School.
She enjoys singing, drawing as well as playing the piano and listening
to books on tape. She is excited for this opportunity with the Civic
Theatre.
Cash
Maciel (Ziggy/Monster) has appeared in other shows at the
Civic such as “Willy Wonka,” as Augustus Gloop. His other show credits include “Oliver Twist,” and
“Vaudville in My Heart” with Rouge River Theatre, as well as “A Mixed-up Fairy
Tale” at East
Rockford Middle School.
Cash has been taking performance classes at the Grand Rapids Civic School
of Theatre Arts and loves singing and acting.
Jake
Olson (Ensemble) first appeared on the Grand
Rapid’s Civic Theater stage as “Pat” in the Phase II performance of
Wild, Wild West. Jake
has also appeared in Scrooge’s Awakening and Vaudeville In My Heart
at The Rogue River Community Theater. He played the part of the Prime Minister
in North
Rockford Middle
School’s performance of Sleeping Beauty. Jake has been a part
of Odyssey of the Mind for three years. He would like to thank Joyce Kash, Melissa Williams and his family.
Delaney
Piggins (Ensemble)
is making her debut at Grand Rapids Civic, with credits
at Holland Civic as the Grandmother in Wooing Wed Widing
Hood, and Beth in The Best Christmas Pageant Ever. She has Played Briggitta in The Sound of Music at Avalon School
of the Arts. Delaney has also done many shows at her local theatres
in Saugatuck such as Cinderella, and The Wizard of Oz in which she played
Auntie Em. She had the roles of Belinda, Fan, and Tiny Tim in the
production of A Christmas Carol for numerous years. She has performed
in Oliver! t Hope Summer Reperetory
Theatre, and was recently in Tosca with the Grand Rapids Opera. Delaney
Piggins takes voice privately with Tim Heck and has taken
classes at Grand Rapids Civic Theatre. She is also a veteran of Blue
Lake Fine Arts Camp. “Thank You to my Parents
and voice teacher for their support.”
Elliot
Rieth (Ensemble) is making his debut on the Civic stage in this production
of Captain Louie. Elliot has previously performed with the TLC Youth
choir in Barbecue for Ben, as Pharaoh in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor
Dreamcoat and as the title character in Oh Jonah! Elliot has
been an active choir member at Lakeside Elementary and now plays viola
in the 7th grade orchestra at East
Grand Rapids Middle
School. Elliot would like to “thank his
parents for the countless times they supported me, my brother Max who
taught me how to truly express myself, and My Lord God almighty for
giving me the gifts I have received. This is a cast formed by friendship!”
Caleb
Sherwood (Julio) is taking to the GRCT stage
for the first time in this production of Captain
Louie. His previous stage experience includes the role of Aladdin
in Aladdin, a chorus role in Willy Wonka and
the role of the Wolf in Into the
Woods. Caleb is an eighth grader at Harbor
Lights Middle
School in Holland.
His dream is to be the next actor/president like J.F.K…minus the assassination
of course!
Katie
Szostak (Amy/Broom) is thrilled to be
returning to the GRCT stage after last appearing in “The Miracle Worker.” She most recently
performed in “Seusical the Musical” at Cornerstone
College, was in the chamber choir at Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp and was
nominated for Best Supporting Actress for her role as Gloria in “Wait
Until Dark” at Holland Civic Theatre.
Katie is a freshman at Hudsonville
High School and
would like to thank her family for all of their continued support.
Mia
VanErp (Cat/Sack) is returning to the
G.R.C.T. stage after appearing in last season’s Willy Wonka. Mia has been in several
ballets with C.A.R.E. , most recently “The Pied Piper”. She is a student of
the G.R.C.T.
School of the Theater of Arts and studies
voice with Kathy Wagner. A sixth grader at Northern Trails, Mia loves
to dance, play the piano, and sing with the sixth grade choir. “Thank
you to my family and friends for all of their love and support.”
Will
Vicari (Captain Louie) has
appeared in shows at the Civic, attended the School of Theatre Arts,
helped with the summer camps, and crewed backstage. Onstage credits
include: Civic-Really Rosie (Chicken Soup), Sound of Music
(07’ Kurt), Nate the Great Traveling Troupe (Nate), Miss Nelson is Missing
(Robbie), and Willy Wonka (James). Opera G.R.- La Boheme, Circle Theatre – Snow
White, National Tour- Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. He also recently received a volunteer award for
500 Hours of Service at the Civic. Special thanks to the cast, my parents
for their constant love and support, Kathy for being an awesome vocal
coach, Chris and Hannah for holding this show together, and Bruce for
this amazing opportunity.
