Audition for a Show

The Grand Rapids Civic Theatre is a community theatre, which means that all the actors who perform on our stage are everyday people who have a talent and interest in theatre arts. Everyone from the novice to the most seasoned actor is welcome to audition for our productions. From musicals to comedies, dramas, and children's productions, there is something for everyone. We look forward to seeing you at an upcoming audition!

Audition Notices

Auditions are announced to the general public in a variety of convenient locations. You can always find audition notices right here on this website by selecting the AUDITION NOTICES link above this paragraph or with each show information page. In addition, notices are regularly posted in the Sunday Entertainment section of the GRAND RAPIDS PRESS. They can also be found in our playbills and in literature racks in the theatre lobby and ticket office.

Preparing for an Audition

Those planning to audition for a show at the Grand Rapids Civic Theatre will be asked to read from a script. For musical auditions, come with a prepared song and be ready to take part in a dance audition. Some auditions require advance registration. The specific requirements can always be found in our audition notices.

Audition Workshops

The Civic School of Theatre Arts periodically offers workshops and classes designed to help you prepare for auditioning and acting on stage. Please check out our current class schedule for upcoming availability.

Audition Handbook

We have put together a wonderful handbook to help you prepare for an audition at the Grand Rapids Civic Theatre. You may download this handbook free of charge.
